Minutes of the Portion of the Committee of the Whole Meeting Open to the Public
Monday, July 27, 2009, 7:30 p.m.

1. Meetinq Called To Order
The Mayor called the Committee of the Whole meeting to order.
1.2 Audited Financial Statements for 2008
(Gail Hamilton and John Lerine representing Ernst and Young entered the meeting)
Referring to a submitted report, the representatives of Ernst and Young indicated that their firm
has audited the submitted 2008 Financial Statements and that they have attached an Auditor's
Report to each of the following Statements: 1) City of Saint John General Fund; 2) City of Saint
John Water and Sewerage Utility; 3) City of Saint John Reserve and Trust Fund. They remarked
that the 2008 Financial Statements were completed in accordance with general accepted
accounting principles, and further, they commented that they did not find any errors in the three
sets of statements.
Referring to a submitted report, the Commissioner of Finance outlined the information contained
in the report entitled 2008 Financial Statements and he responded to a variety of questions
from Council.
On motion of Deputy Mayor Chase
Seconded by Councillor McGuire
RESOLVED that the Clerk be directed to add the submitted 2008
Financial Statements to the regular meeting of Council on August 4, 2009.
Question being taken, the motion was carried.
2. Discussion of Confidential Matters
On motion of Councillor McGuire
Seconded by Councillor Mott
RESOLVED that the public be excluded from the meeting for the
duration of the discussion on the following matter(s): 1.1 Employment Matter 10.2(4)Q)
Question being taken, the motion was carried.
