Minutes of the Portion of the Committee of the Whole Meeting Open to the Public
Wednesday, November 28, 2007, 5:00 p.m.

Mayor Norm McFarlane,
Deputy Mayor Hooton and Councillors, Court, Farren, Ferguson, McGuire, Tait,
Titus and White

T. Totten, City Manager; J. Nugent, City Solicitor; G. Yeomans, Commissioner of
Finance and Treasurer; and E. Gormley, Assistant Common Clerk
1. Meeting Called To Order
The Mayor called the Committee of the Whole meeting to order.
Referring to a submitted report and electronic slide presentation, Mike Schulze, Chair of
the Citizens’ Advisory Group, thanked the thousands of people who contributed input to
help establish the Saint John Community Vision for the future of Saint John. He
reviewed the process used for citizen input, presented sustainability principles and the
Vision Statement created for Saint John, all as submitted with his report.
On motion of Councillor Tait
Seconded by Deputy Mayor Hooton
RESOLVED that the submitted recommendations including the
Vision Statement and Sustainability Principles for Saint John be approved in principle
and that they be submitted to the next Council meeting to be ratified.
Question being taken, the motion was carried.
