RESPECTING TRAFFIC
STREETS IN THE CITY OF SAINT JOHN

Be it enacted by The City of Saint John in Lors d'une reunion du Conseil communal, The
Common Council convened, as follows: City of Saint John a decrete ce qui suit :
A By-law of the City of Saint John entitled "A
By-law respecting the Traffic on Streets in the
City of Saint John" enacted on the seventh day
of October, A.D. 2019, is amended by:
1. Adding immediately following section
5(7) the following:
5(8) No person shall obstruct, wholly or partly,
any street, sidewalk, median within a street or the
green space beyond the edge of a sidewalk or
travelled portion of the street in a way that
a) renders the use of the said street and
sidewalk by the public unsafe;
b) negatively impacts the drainage of
the street, sidewalk and surrounding
area;
c) prevents or impedes the removal of
snow from the street or sidewalk; or
d) prevents or impedes maintenance of
the street, sidewalk, vegetation
adjacent to the street and sidewalk
and the utilities located within the
street, whether below or above
ground.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF The City of Saint
John has caused the Corporate Seal of the said
City to be affixed to this by-law the 23rd day of
September, 2025. Signed by:

1. L'article 5 est modifie par Pajout du
paragraphs suivant immediatement apres le
paragraphe 5(7) :
5(8) Il est interdit d'obstrer, entierement ou en
partie, toute rue, tout trottoir, tout terre-plein
central ou bande mediane dune rue, ou tout
espace vert qui horde le trottoir ou la chaussee de
sorte a
a) rendre Futilisation de la rue et du
trottoir par le public dangereuse;
b) avoir un impact negatif sur le
drainage de la rue ou du trottoir et des
environs;
c) empecher ou entraver le deneigement
de la rue ou du trottoir; ou
d) empecher ou entraver Pentretien de
la rue, du trottoir, de la vegetation
adjacente et de Pinfrastructure reliee
aux services publics sous-terraine ou
situee a la surface.

records of the Common Council of the said City of Saint John and of the Common
Seal of the said City.
2. That hereto attached and marked "A" is a true copy of a by-law entitled "By -
Law Number M.V. 10.1 A Law to Amend the Municipal Plan By -Law," enacted by
the Common Council of the City of Saint John on the 23rd day of September, A.D.
2025.
3. That I have carefully compared the said by-law with the original and the same
is a true copy thereof.
