1.1 Growing in Saint John Series — Presentation by Dr. Petra Hauf, UNB Saint John
The Growing in Saint John series shares success stories in the City and provides an opportunity
to profile local businesses, leaders, newcomers, investors, and entrepreneurs. Mr. Dobbelsteyn
introduced Dr. Petra Hauf who discussed the "Health Growth Plan UNB Saint John". Dr. Hauf
noted that funding from government is required for the project and the provincial and federal
governments are being asked to contribute $12M each towards the $38M development. The
remaining funds will come from reserves and philanthropy. Dr. Hauf asked the City, not for a
financial contribution, but to endorse the project and to identify the development as a priority.
Mr. Collin noted that Council has currently identified three catalytic projects as its priority and
that these projects are nearing the execution stage. The City will need to discuss its priorities
going forward. It is likely that this project will be a top contender as a catalytic project for
Council's consideration.
Moved by Deputy Mayor McAlary, seconded by Councillor Hickey:
RESOLVED that the presentation from Dr. Petra Hauf "Health Growth Plan UNB Saint John", be
received for information.
