1. Meeting Called To Order
The Mayor called the Committee of the Whole Open Session Meeting to order.
Moved by Councillor Armstrong, seconded by Deputy Mayor McAlary:
Resolved that the Committee of the Whole open session agenda be approved to discuss item
1.1 District Education Letter of Support.

Declaring a conflict, Councillors Sullivan and Norton withdrew from the meeting.
1.1 District Education Council Letter of Su
Commissioner Hamilton updated Council on the collaboration between the DEC and the
Province and the public engagement process to construct a new elementary school in the
Southern Peninsula. Staff supports the development and its alignment with the Growth Plan.
Moved by Deputy Mayor McAlary, seconded by Councillor Lowe:
RESOLVED that the Committee of the Whole recommends that Common Council approve
sending the letter to the Province in support of the recommendation of the DEC to build a new
school in the South End as submitted with the report entitled M&C2018-41 District Education
Letter of Support.

RESOLVED that the Committee of the Whole Open session convened on February 12, 2018 be
adjourned.

RESOLVED that the public be excluded from the meeting for the duration of the discussion on
